Band History Revealed
George and Josh’s friendship began at a young age, growing stronger as they progressed through Beavers, Cubs, and eventually Scouts. Their bond deepened even further during secondary school.
What started as a bit of fun soon evolved into something more. George, who was already learning Coldplay songs on the piano, was joined by Josh one day when he came over. While at George’s house, the two discovered an old family guitar that had been tucked away at his grandparents’ home. Together, they played “Come Together” by The Beatles, and after Josh left, George picked up the guitar and never looked back.
The band truly formed when George’s mum asked the two boys to play at her 50th birthday party. From then on, they would practice religiously in the school music room whenever they could. These little jams eventually led to the formation of Unamed.
After the spark of the band ignited, it was a steady journey toward becoming a “real” band. During this time, Josh and George focused on creating engaging TikToks while honing their musical skills. One TikTok video unexpectedly went viral, propelling them into the spotlight and capturing the attention of a wider audience. The rush of success fuelled their ambition, and they found themselves craving even more recognition. With every video, they continued to chase their dreams, eager to see where their passion and creativity would take them next.
Josh was buzzing with excitement after going viral and realized it was time to take their music to the next level. He envisioned transitioning from an acoustic duo to a full-fledged band—but first, they needed to find a talented drummer to complete the line-up.
They discovered their drummer in Lucas Dursley, affectionately known as “The Diesel.” A lifelong friend of George’s since primary school, Lucas’s love for bands like Oasis made him the ideal choice. When they headed to Pirate Studios in London, everything just clicked, and the chemistry between them was undeniable.
The trio rehearsed tirelessly, perfecting their covers until they received the opportunity to perform at "The Kings Arms" Although the sound wasn’t perfect, the atmosphere was electric. With George and Josh switching between bass and guitar, they realized this was a crucial moment—it was time to bring in another band member.
Kieran Gillar suggested to George that he would buy a bass guitar if he could join the band. With his prior guitar experience, Kieran quickly adapted and greatly enhanced the band’s sound when he switched to bass.
Ultimately, Unamed’s completed line-up made their debut as a full band at the Ickenham Festival, where they captivated the audience and owned the stage. They are now working on original material.
